About Me
Where It All Started
I’ve been a reader my whole life. Growing up, I was constantly checking out a stack of books from my local library every week. One of my favorite quotes was from a book that I read when I was about 15 (I think…that was quite some time ago for me). It comes from a Dean Koontz book, Dragon Tears.
“Life can be as bitter as dragon tears, but whether the tears are bitter or sweet depends on how each man perceives the taste”
It is a fairly simple quote, and the meaning is easy to understand. It’s stuck with me all these years though (I’m in my 40’s in case you were wondering), and it shapes how I perceive my life at any given moment.
When things get tough (and there have and will always be those moments), I try to remember, it’s not just about getting past those moments — but not letting those moments define me and my life. As such, I’ve definitely maintained a glass half full mentality and I’d invite you to consider this quote, and you might find it having an impact of your life too.
I’m starting this journey and hoping to find an audience that can relate to me. My interests reflect my path in life. It’s never been a straight one, but rather a meandering route that’s made me explore and enjoy a variety of topics and life experiences. You’ll find my posts won’t be about a particular thing, but I hope you enjoy what I do write here. Now for the basics about me.
Who Am I
I’ve spent the bulk of my job life as a customer service representative, in either been phone support or in person (usually in retail). I’ve got a bachelors degree in digital art that I enjoy using with t-shirt design. This degree also had a focus in 3d aspects, so I’m enjoying learning Blender and love playing video games…so my hope is one day to create a game. I’ve grown up with an Atari, Sega, and mostly play PC games now.
All that love of reading has translated to writing and playing RPG’s (role-playing games to the uninitiated). I do enjoy most RPG’s, so I’ve played Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Coriolis, Cogs, Cakes & Swordsticks…well you get the idea here. This isn’t a post about RPG’s after all.
I’ve been married for 21 years, and have 3 cats — and yes…I am positive they all went to secret ninja cat school and have been trying to kill me in cute ways for the past 19 years (that is how old my oldest cat is btw). I was in the military and was stationed in Alaska for a time, where I really enjoyed exploring the state. If you were wondering…that is where I met my husband.
Where It’s Going
Right now my Medium goals are to write. I want to write consistently and bring others on the journey with me. As I said, I won’t have any particular niche, but hope to make each read interesting and worth your time.
Thank you for taking the time to read my first post, and hope you return and see what I’ve come up with next.
